SAND SIZING TERMS

WHAT DOES 7/14 OR 14/25 MEAN?

The terms 7/14 and 14/25 in sand measurements refer to the size range of sand particles, defined by the mesh size of sieves used to sort them. Here's a breakdown:

  • 7/14: The particles pass through a sieve with 7 openings per inch (coarser) but are retained on a sieve with 14 openings per inch (finer). This means the particle sizes are between the sieve mesh sizes for 7 and 14.
  • 14/25: The particles pass through a 14-mesh sieve but are retained on a 25-mesh sieve. These particles are smaller than 7/14 particles but larger than what passes through the 25-mesh sieve.

I'M ORDERING MULTIPLE MEDIA 20 KG PRODUCTS - HOW WILL YOU PACK IT?

20 KG Bags
We keep your convenience in mind when you order from us. All multi-pallet orders are clearly labeled, so you’ll know exactly which pallet to start with. We also load the media in reverse order, eliminating the need to shuffle through bags to find the correct media at the bottom of the stack—simply start with Pallet One. Additionally, we provide an installation guide, which is placed in a plastic sleeve attached to the side of the first bag you will use in the filter.

PACKAGING SIZE OPTIONS

20 KG BAGS, 25 KG BAGS

Our support media is typically packaged in woven polypropylene, unlaminated bags with built-in UV protection. These bags have sewn tops and bottoms when filled with product. Each bag contains either 20 kg or 25 kg of product.

A standard loaded pallet generally holds either 50 bags of 20 kg each (net weight 1,000 kg) or 40 bags of 25 kg each (net weight 1,000 kg). However, this may vary depending on the specific requirements of the customer.

1-TON BULK BAGS

Typically, a bulk bag is loaded with 1,000 kg of product (net weight), though this can vary based on the customer’s specific requirements. We are happy to accommodate any combination of weights if you have weight restrictions, for example.

Our bulk bags feature a duffle top for easy filling and sealing, with a tightly secured design, and a spout bottom for precise and controlled discharge, making them ideal for accurate pouring or dispensing. They are perfect for controlled release. The spout-bottom bags are securely tied off and are often used as 'flat' bottom bags. Additionally, our bulk bags include an internal moisture barrier to protect moisture-sensitive materials.

PALLETS & WRAP

PALLETS

Almost everything we sell is shipped on a pallet to its final destination, and given the weights involved, these pallets have a significant responsibility. For this reason, we choose to use high-quality, recycled pallets that are in good condition. All our pallets are untreated, clean, and suitable for the tasks at hand. Once a pallet is no longer usable or deemed unsafe, we recycle it.

While we do charge for our pallets, if you bring a suitable, good-quality pallet to exchange when collecting your order, we will waive the charge for the pallet you take away. Additionally, if you return the pallet in good condition within 24 hours of collection or delivery, we will credit the pallet charge on your invoice. Please note, however, that we reserve the right to reject any pallet that does not meet our standards.

PALLET WRAP

We are committed to supporting environmentally friendly practices whenever possible. To secure your purchase to its pallet, we use landfill-biodegradable hand-stretched wrap. This wrap can be recycled or disposed of in the general waste bin for modern landfill disposal. Once in a modern landfill, biodegradation occurs approximately 90% faster than with conventional hand stretch wrap, breaking down into organic matter (a natural fertilizer) without producing microplastics.

SUSTAINABILITY

WHAT ARE THE SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES OF THE PACKAGING WE USE?

Using Recycled Pallets
Using recycled pallets for shipping products offers significant sustainability benefits. It reduces the demand for new raw materials, conserving trees and minimizing the environmental impact of timber harvesting. Recycled pallets also help reduce waste by diverting wood from landfills, decreasing the carbon footprint associated with disposal. Additionally, refurbishing old pallets requires less energy than manufacturing new ones, further reducing environmental impact. By incorporating recycled pallets into our supply chain, we promote resource efficiency, support a circular economy, and demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Pallet Wrap
Bio wrap pallet wrap offers key sustainability advantages. Unlike conventional plastic wraps, which take hundreds of years to decompose, bio wrap breaks down more quickly and safely in composting environments. Made from renewable resources like cornstarch or sugarcane, bio wrap reduces reliance on fossil fuels and lowers greenhouse gas emissions during production. By choosing bio wrap, we significantly reduce plastic waste, support local composting efforts, and contribute to New Zealand’s sustainable practices, while enhancing our reputation as an environmentally conscious company.

Bags
Bulk bags used for Absorb products offer several sustainability benefits, contributing to a greener supply chain. Made from durable and reusable materials like woven polypropylene, these bags reduce the need for single-use packaging, cutting down on plastic waste. Their robust design allows for multiple uses, minimizing replacements and further reducing material consumption. Bulk bags are also lightweight yet strong, reducing transportation emissions by improving loading and unloading efficiency. By incorporating bulk bags, we enhance our sustainability efforts, support waste reduction, and contribute to New Zealand’s environmental goals, while ensuring the integrity and quality of our sand products.
